Three more weeks.

There are officially three weeks left until the beginning of one of the most highly anticipated events of my year. Spring. Sweet spring- with its green leaves and mown grass and new gardens. We are certainly anticipating the gardens.

It's so satisfying to see Henry want to be involved with our plants for the garden. He checks them, under their lights, to see how they are doing and has even had a chat with them a couple of times. That boy could talk to a wall.

We have had a few days of fairly nice weather over the last couple of weeks. We squeezed in a couple of trips to the playground and Mama squeezed back into her running shoes and hit the pavement. It was good.

We also snuck in a not-often-enough date night. Henry got to play with his sitter, Brianna, for a few hours while we went out for a lovely dinner in East Nashville with these two very missed faces. What a fun night! Even Will Zuill, my beloved creature of habit himself, got a little adventurous with his dining choices!

Henry's dining choices are hit or miss these days. Some days it seems like he only eats ten bites the entire day. The next day he's eating like a 15 year old linebacker. You just never know. But there is one thing we always know- this boy LOVES to help in the kitchen.

And then proudly eats whatever it was he helped to make.

He's become quite fond of one particular kitchen contraption.

{does he not have the best bed head ever??}

He is convinced that he has other 'contraptions' built into his wrist. And before you can even blink he'll have you wrapped up in his webs.

I'm pretty sure that there was a three day span this week where he mostly referred to himself as 'Spider Henry'. No kidding.

Apparently the whole charade is exhausting.

So for the next three weeks we will wait, for Spring. When it arrives I plan to bask in its full glory. After these last couple of months of cold weather, I think we all will. But I'm telling you, I really don't mind another three weeks of this in the meantime- reading stories and playing and just hanging out (and sometimes getting exasperated with Mama and her camera). This is pretty darn good.

Crazy little thing called love.

Valentine's Day. It has been accused of being a fairly overinflated holiday, created only to make money for companies like Hallmark. That in all likelihood is probably true, but if it gets chocolates for the girls, who can argue with that? Henry didn't get chocolate but he was very excited about getting some special mail just for him yesterday.

Henry's card from his Gaga and Pappy was great and all, but if you're really, really lucky- you might get a card like the one I got. A Will Zuill trademark move- how could I not love this man?

Having experienced my share of not-so-rosy relationships in my lifetime, I really am thankful for my Brit. We shop together. We cook together. We parent together. He honestly is the best thing that has ever come into my life.

I'm not the only one who is fond of him.

Henry loves his Daddy so much. I'm really not even sure if love is a strong enough word. Watching them play is amazing. Henry is loving hide and go seek these days. Although his "hiding" skills could certainly use a little polishing.

There's really only one other guy who even come close to making Henry laugh as much as his Daddy. When Cohen is around, fun is bound to ensue. And those boys sure can get some air.

Henry has been busy (and keeping me busy) as usual lately. Don't get me wrong, he's always been fun. But in the last month or so, he has been a blast to hang out with. A tiny walking entertainment machine. Every day something new comes out of his mouth (and sometimes we have to turn away to hide our inappropriate laughter). Just a few phrases that we hear on a regular basis:

-"I got a super duper good idea!" (thanks to PBS's 'Super Why'). His super duper good idea, when asked what it is, is generally something like "Apples!" or "Chocolate Pudding!".

-"I wuv you more than chocolate pudding!"- (chocolate pudding ranks pretty high with Henry- see above, 'super duper good idea')

-"I not don't know." or "I forgot". Hmmmm.

-When walking through any store with me, he'll point at items and say "Dis say 30 dollars."- not entirely sure where this came from.

-He loves "mash-a-tables" (mashed potatoes) and "Mr. Table Head" (Mr. Potato Head). Clearly the rest of us are pronouncing potato wrong.

-He has become a regular songbird. At naptime or bedtime, while he's trying to fall asleep, or spontaneously during dinner, you might hear his rendition of "Tinkle, tinkle little 'Tar" or "The Itsy Bitsy 'Pider". I really do love his little songs.

He loves shadows. Outside or even inside. ("Hi shadow!")

He loves to stack. Even better if he can get his hands on a pile of coffee creamers.

He loves (and I mean loves) his "YaYa" (Layla). And she loves him more than I ever thought she would- and I am so thankful for that.

Recently he has loved talking on the telephone. He "talks" to his Gaga, his Pappy, Uncle Andy, Auntie Cheryl, Auntie Lizzie- this list could go on.

There are a couple of "Henry likes" that his Mama may be encouraging just a little. Like his slight superhero fascination. I really can't help it.

And of course, I'm clearly going to encourage his use of this.

Here are a few of the photos we've seen come from behind Henry's lens.

No too bad, eh?

We have had a great Valentine's Day here, full of love. We hope you have too!

Neighborhood watch.

There's been a recent development regarding the level of security around our neighborhood. This guy has been seen walking (and flying) the streets on a regular basis.

Today, however, he took a break from his crime fighting patrol to have a little fun on the swings.

It was nearly 60 degrees and sunny today and we spent most of the day outside, and even saw a few hints of Spring here and there.

But don't let today's weather fool you. Tennessee winters can be so unpredictable. Three days ago we had this going on-

The good news is that on Saturday the groundhog didn't see his shadow, so hopefully Spring will be just around the corner.

In the meantime we've found plenty to keep us entertained until it gets here. Like a great trip to the Discovery Center with our friends Jen and Sofie.

We also went to celebrate Cohen's 4th birthday. He had a superhero party and the kids loved it.

We've spent a little time turning Henry's room into a real big boy room. The bed is so special to me because my dad made it when he was in high school. And Henry loves his new bed (and as any kids does, loves jumping on it).

Some of my favorite times happen on days that we don't really go anywhere and don't have anything on our 'to do' list. We just hang around inside and play (and only occasionally pout) and soak each other in. We love those days.

Thanks for stopping by to catch up with us! Happy February!
