season of celebration.

As much as I proclaim myself to be a hardcore Spring chicken and like to groan about the cold weather, I have to admit that there are things I kind of love this about time of year. I like being offered warm apple cider to drink, big pots of soup simmering on the stove, and I like the promise of my mom's sweet potato casserole every Thanksgiving. This Thanksgiving, as with each one really, the gift of our family being together is what I really had an appetite for. On the day after Thanksgiving the four of us loaded up and headed down to Pulaski to find Gaga & Pappy's house full of all sort of goodness. There is just nothing better. Well, unless it had been 75 degrees outside.

The two new little faces at our Thanksgiving table were such welcome additions.

We somehow even corralled & convinced everyone to humor me with a group photo. I'm so glad we did. Even though we had multiple takes because of a furry photo bomber.

Thanksgiving is over and all of our waistbands have let out a sigh of relief- which can only mean it's time for a new season to begin. Time for hot chocolate and Christmas tree decorating, making a total mess of a gingerbread house, and a living room & kitchen full of twinkling lights.

It also means its time for the annual College Grove Christmas Parade! Henry and Will were especially excited this year because one of our neighbors, Mr. Don, snagged them a couple of seats on an antique fire truck in the procession. No rain in Tennessee for 3 months, but on the day of the parade- cold & drizzly. No matter. We just all bundled up and carried on. Our friends Molly and Hank have the most wonderful house right on the parade route and had a big group over for chili, warm cider and front row seats to the show. Mr. Zuill didn't even lose one finger to frostbite.

Speaking of Mr. Zuill, he gave us another reason to celebrate recently. After a LOT of studying, he took a little trip to Memphis, took a test and passed it. And now he is almost an American! Henry painted a gift for his Daddy and we got liberal with some red, white & blue streamers to surprise him when he got home. And you know, any excuse to make a cake.
