Charlie, 16 months.

Oh Charlie. You are sixteen months old! You have taken your transition in toddlerhood very seriously. To be honest, it started out a bit on the sketchy side. Stranger danger and molars turned you into a little person who left me in a an exhausted mommy puddle at the end of the day. But over the last month or two you have turned into an absolute RIOT. Of course, we all still have our days, but for the most part you are a one woman entertainment show and we're all buying tickets!

You talk ALL the time now. I walk into your room in the mornings after being summoned by a sweet (and persistent) little voice- "Mommy! Mommy!". You immediately start pointing out the things you've been looking at while waiting ever so patiently(?)- "pilla!" (pillow), "Yamee-yamee!" (Llama Llama), "Mommy!" (pointing to the photo on the wall with you in my belly). It's so weird that we are able to ask you if you are hungry (and get a big serious head nod yes) and then you are also able to tell us what you would like. "Gapes", "ceer-ul", toast, waffle, "ohmeee-o" (oatmeal), "pas-sa" (pasta), "can-te-woupe" and "eggy-egg" are regulars on your plate. You still call a banana a "nummy" and you'd eat 10 of them a day if we'd let you. You won't eat cucumber but hearing you say "cucumbie" never gets old. Today I cut you up some "Strawbies" (strawberries) for part of your lunch and you popped our with "tanka much" (thank you much).

If we are reading or singing with you, and pause, it's almost shocking how many words you can fill it (as evidenced by the very emphatic video of you singing You are My Sunshine). You love love LOVE to read. I cut you off after seven books yesterday morning, ha. I think you'd sit and be read to all day. You love Peppa books, especially Peppa's first sleepover- you point to it and say "Sleepy!". You do a very good "ahhhhhtchooo!" when we read about George catching a cold. You love the books "Pouch" and "Betty and the Yeti", but honestly, you will take any book we'll read.

A couple of months ago you started doing this thing where you would say "Two-ta, two-ta". It took us a little while to figure out it was your version of counting. Now you've moved up to "three, four, five!". Sometimes you'll count up to ten, but always leave out a number or two. You know your major body parts but get knees and elbows mixed up, ha.

You were playing a lot of "peek-a-poo" with us last month, but aren't really into that lately. You do love to go outside. Nothing gets you moving quicker than the prospect of that- you head straight for the door saying "side! side!". Most late afternoons find you naked on the driveway, playing with your water table and sneaking into Henry's toys. You love bubbles, riding on Henry's four-wheeler with him (or Daddy, ha!), and the "jumpa-jump!" (aka trampoline). You love to sit and dig in the mulch much to my dismay, ha.

You will walk up to us and say "Meet-chee!" (your shortened version of 'nice to meet you') or ask us to "help-ooo" when the door comes off your Little People bus or you break one of Henry's Lego creations. When we ask you who made a mess you'll say "me, I do!". I still get the "holdie, holdie!" request when you want to be picked up. Your favorite thing of all is opening a bedroom door to reveal a sleeping Henry or Daddy, run over to the bed and holler "wake UP!" and start laughing. Cutest alarm clock ever.

Charlie, it's crazy how quickly you are changing. This is just such an amazing age. You keep us laughing and on our toes. We love you little girl, and love what you've added to our family!
